JESSE EISENBERG Is The Ultra-Villain, LEX LUTHOR!

JESSE EISENBERG, who shone in his performance of Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network and was last seen opposite Morgan Freeman, Mark Ruffalo and Woody Harrelson in the fun crime caper, Now You See Me (2013) has been chosen as the new Lex Luthor. Though some argued that perhaps Bryan Cranston as well as a few other actors should take the role, it was Eisenberg who eventually was cast.

With Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, it further re-iterates the immense changes happening within the DC cinematic universe and how these movies are being punted to a new and younger generation. They've totally shaken things up and rumours are doing the rounds that Eisenberg will play a curly blonde-haired Luthor which goes against the bald headed villain we've seen in comic books, cartoons and movies.

Of course Eisenberg now has to fill the shoes of, and perhaps stand in the shadow of, former Lex Luthor actors such as Gene Hackman ( Christopher Reeve's Superman ) and Kevin Spacey ( Brandon Routh's Superman ). Hackman and Spacey will provide more than enough research material for Eisenberg, though in all honesty, I don't think they want to give us a Luthor like any we've seen before. Whatever incarnation we will get in the new movie will be wilder, crazier and more over the top than anything we can dream of which, at the end of the day, will be new and refreshing.

Kevin Spacey was menacingly evil in Superman Returns (2006)

Gene Hackman was the template for villainy in Superman (1978)
