“Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” will be shot with Imax cameras, a spokeswoman for the company confirmed to Variety.
News that the superhero matchup would use the cameras first bubbled up on Twitter after a user observed the filmmakers as they shot scenes in Chicago.
Snyder’s “Man of Steel” showed in Imax, but didn’t use the Imax cameras, so this marks the director’s first time shooting in the format. “Batman V. Superman” stars Ben Affleck as the caped crusader, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons and Jesse Eisenberg. Warner Bros. will release the picture on March 25, 2016.
Imax cameras have been used on “Interstellar,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” “Transformers: Age of Extinction” and the upcoming “Star Wars” sequel. This will be the seventh studio movie shot with Imax cameras.
